Fall 2015

Computers and computation are at the core of all modern technology. How did we get here? What lies ahead?

On the left above, is a photo of Alan M. Turing. He is considered the father of modern computing. He described, on paper, a method for universal computation, a method which all modern computers use. This method is now known as the Turing Machine. He described a test for intelligence, which is now known as the Turing Test. These contributions are in addition to his many others. See his wikipedia page.
