    This paper introduces theoretical discussion of new problems facing intellectual property rights on two convergent fronts when dealing with rights over artefacts, namely from digital technologies and the need to address the claims of traditional knowledge.

    The Digital Millennium Copyright Act in the United States has led the way in legislation that attempts to control misuse of digital materials. This paper puts it in a comparative context for a New Zealand audience.
