Transportation

London can be reached by air by flying to Toronto or to Detroit. You can then take a connector flight to London. From the London Airport, a taxi to either hotel will cost about CDN $15-20. Alternately, you can use Robert Q's Airbus transportation service from either Toronto or Detroit:
          Robert Q's Airbus
          105 Wharncliffe Road South
          London, Ontario, Canada
          Phone: 519-673-6804
              or 800-265-4948 (USA and Canada)
          Fax: 519-679-5406
          WorldWideWeb: www.robertq.com

The airbus connection takes about 2 ¼ hours from Toronto Pearson International Airport, and about 3 hours from Detroit Airport. The round-trip cost is CDN $62 for Toronto-London and CDN $71 for Detroit-London to the London airbus terminal, with an additional cost of $8-12 for door-to-door service within London. We recommend that you book in advance.

London is also served by intercity bus and by Via Rail.

    Driving Directions

London can be reached by road using Highway 401 from Toronto (about 190 km) or from Windsor/Detroit (about 195 km) to Exit 186 (Downtown London). Follow Wellington Road north through downtown until it ends at Pall Mall Street, then turn left: the Station Park Inn will be on your right side. To reach Windermere Manor, continue along Pall Mall Street until Richmond Street (1 block), then turn right and follow Richmond Street north for about 3 kilometres to Windermere Road. Turn left on Windermere Road and continue just past Western Road: you will find the gate to Windermere Manor and the UWO Research Park on your right.

Information booths are located at the campus gates off Richmond Street and Western Road.

    Campus Information

The University of Western Ontario is an attractive campus located in the heart of London's Old North district. It has three main entrances: one at Richmond Street (University Drive), one off Western Road (Lambton Drive), and one off Windermere Road (Perth Drive).

    Bus Routes

The campus is easily accessible by bus. From Station Park Inn, catch the #6 Richmond or #13 or 13A Wellington Rd bus north.

    Conference Buildings

The Mogensen Building is located a pleasant 5 minute walk west along Windermere Road from the bus stop at the corner of Windermere Road and Perth Drive, while the #6 Richmond stops directly in front of the Western Sciences Building.

Windermere Manor is located an easy 3 minute walk from the Mogensen Building, and about a 15 minute walk from the Western Science Centre.

Regretfully, only a few parking slots are available near the Mogensen Building. However, you can park your car uphill near the Windermere Manor.

Social Event

Our social event for WIA'97 consists of an evening of dinner and theatre at Stratford, Ontario, home of the Stratford Festival. We leave London at 4:00 pm Thursday, arriving at Stratford around 5:00 pm. The newly renovated Festival Theatre is within comfortable walking distance of our restaurant.

After a leisurely three course dinner, we will have about 1 ½ hours to explore this picturesque town before the 8:00 curtain call.

We have reserved first class seats at the Festival Theatre for "Camelot," the Lerner and Lowe Broadway musical about the legend of King Arthur.
