The University of Western Ontario's Department of Computer Science enables students to obtain an MSc or PhD in Computer Science. Our faculty and students are engaged in research activities in traditional areas of computer science and in emerging areas. Graduate students play a vital role in all of the Department's research activities. The MSc degree provides options that allow you to explore a specific research area deeply (through the thesis option) or allow you to explore a broad number of areas through its coursework MSc. The PhD degree provides you with strong research skills.

Active areas of research include computer vision, distributed systems, database security, software engineering, computer algebra, pen-based computing, bioinformatics and biocomputation, games, computational linguistics, machine learning, cognitive learning and so much more.
