			SysAdmin Defined

I was out at Bryn Mawr this weekend, and Lenore, who is a Greek
Major, asked me what I did. I told her I make sure the system stays up,
and help people understand how to use the software, ask questions, fix
little bugs, configure things, install new programs, and send the
machines off to be fixed when they break.

She thought about it for a little while, and then she said, ``Oh,
okay. You're, like, a computer janitor.''

So I told Mark and Scott (coworkers) about the `Computer Janitor'
deal, and Mark said he didn't think it was that apt; janitors didn't to
major renovation and didn't have to deal with lots of people in the
university community. ``Yeah,'' agreed Scott. ``It's more like
Physical Plant, you know?'' He paused a moment, and then chuckled.
``Heh,'' he said, `` `Logical Plant.' ''

Ha, ha, ha. Take me back to [ the alphabetic list ] [ the date-ordered list ].
