The bells were NOT ringing in Bogata, Columbia, today. About
one-third of the city's telephones are out-of-service because the
telephone lines had disappeared. The copper in the lines sells at a
high scrap price, so overnight thieves took several THOUSAND yards of it
right off the telephone poles.
