Magnetic Media
An acquaintance and I were discussing his consulting practice. He had set up this customer with an IBM PC-clone and soon after installing the system, he got continuous complaints from his customer about loosing data on his floppies. As the customer was some distance away he tried to remedy the problem over the phone. Each time the customer called, the consultant would walk the customer through some steps and verified that his drives and media were in actuality quite sound. After a number of these phone calls, the consultant finally decided the best thing to do was to inspect the computer himself. As he walked into the customer's office, he noticed that the customer had used magnets to hold the colorful disks to the side of the their metal filing cabinet. Sigh. - Dave Ciemiewicz
