Termin What?
Now for a few problems with computer terminology.... Here's a story that I heard when I visited CompuServe's corporate headquarters earlier this year. Seems that when you don't enter anything for a while, CompuServe (like many well behaved time sharing systems) logs you off. Depending on what you're running on the system, you get various messages. In InfoPlex, CompuServe's commercial Email system, the message is: ? your job has been terminated by the system There was a newly hired employee who was on his first day. He had been impressed that it was important to check his mail, and he logged into it to check. Distracted, he left himself logged in and got the message above. Poor fellow took his personal things and left. Next day, he didn't show up. In fact, he didn't come back until his boss called asking why he wasn't coming to work, and did he really want the job. - Ed Greenberg
