Ok, ok. I admit, there are other meanings to this word and that not all uses that people put this word to are wrong. However, there are far too many people who use it just because they don't know when to use effect and when to use affect or because the word influence just isn't strong enough for them. So many that I'm willing to lose those pieces of meaning just to shut them up! Replacing three words with one should never be considered good for the language.
