Current Professional InformationI am currently seeking a position as an assistant professor at a doctoral research institution (a university granting Ph.D.'s in computer science) where I can continue researching and teaching computer science, and serve as an advisor for graduate students in computer science or related fields. My application package is here. Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario in the Computer Science department. My postdoctoral advisor is Dr. Lila Kari, and I am a member of the UWO Biocomputing Laboratory. Until 2009, I was enrolled at Iowa State University as a graduate student in the Computer Science department, under two major professors, Dr. Jack Lutz and Dr. Jim Lathrop of the Computer Science department, as a member of the ISU Laboratory for Nanoscale Self-Assembly. Research Interests
Formerly (and possibly in the future) I studied methods of measuring information and the extent to which computation on objects is capable of altering their information content. My research in this direction is in an area in which theoretical computer science intersects with fractal geometry and information theory, known as effective fractal dimension, developed by Jack Lutz. I am also interested in another area known as computational depth, which is a different notion of algorithmic information developed by Charles Bennett. My publications page contains all my publications if you are interested in seeing what I have done. |
