Abstract

This paper proposes a scheme for segmenting carotid artery ultrasound images using graph cuts segmentation approach. A weighted graph is constructed, where each image pixel is represented by a graph node. Edge weights are assigned based on both region homogeneity and domain specific information. Then, the segmentation problem is solved by finding the minimum cut through the constructed graph edges. Experimental results demonstrated the efficiency of the proposed scheme in segmenting carotid artery ultrasound images.
