Notes are provided in both Microsoft PowerPoint and Postscript formats.
-
PowerPoint notes can be viewed and printed in the GAUL labs in the basement
of Middlesex College that have Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office installed. If you have Microsoft Office at home, that will do as well. If you have
Microsoft Windows at home, but do not have Office, you can download
a PowerPoint Viewer and Printer from Microsoft to use this version of notes at home.
-
Postscript notes can be viewed using the gs or gv
commands from your GAUL Unix account (ghostview may work as well,
but your mileage may vary). To get these tools for your home
computer, go to http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.html.
-
Postscript notes can be printed on GAUL laser printers, at the I/O counter or in Room 10 ... some printers in the labs do not apparently handle the fonts very well. (You can try elsewhere, but again your mileage may vary.) Help on printing can be found in
the Computer Science Department FAQ at this page. The gs and ghostview tools for home computers, linked above, will also let you print to a
non-Postscript printer at home.
-
Because of the way Postscript notes are generated, the Unix utility
psnup will not likely be able to reformat the slides to many a page.
For your convenience, this has already been done for you in the most popular
(and easy-on-the-eye) formats to save on paper and printing costs.
Note: There is a quota of 50 pages for
the laser printer for each student, per course per term. You may pay for
more pages of laser printing at the Main Office, MC 355.
