December 20, 2004: | Assignment 3, Option 1 is now available for pick up from the I/O counter. The Bluetooth option assignments have been marked, and will be made availble for pick up as soon as possible. Keep in mind that the I/O counter has reduced hours of operation at this point, though! Also, the exams have been marked and final course marks have been submitted for approval. At this point, I cannot release marks, so you will have to be a little more patient still! |

December 1, 2004: | Class for Friday, December 3rd has been cancelled. This should give you some extra time to finish your assignments (in this course, and every other course you have I imagine). On next Wednesday's class, we will wrap up the material on cellular technologies, and have some time for questions and answers and review for the exam. |

November 26, 2004: | As mentioned in today's class, a revised version of the Assignment 2 solution has been posted on the assignments page linked below. This corrects the glitch causing the program to misbehave on its first use. Let us know if there are any other problems! |

November 25, 2004: | Just a quick note about Assignment 3, Option 1 involving the cipher example program. In using cipher, you may notice that it has a limitation on password lengths, which will effect your ability to use an IMEI number as a password (since they are typically 15 digits long). This can be easily solved as this length is defined in the cipher.rss resource file. There are two locations to change, one in the password only dialog, and one in the text and password dialog. If you change the num_letters option in both to be 15, it will work just fine after you rebuild the application. |

November 23, 2004: | Assignment 2 is now marked and ready for pick up from the I/O counter. If you have questions about the grading of your assignment, please see the TA that graded it first, as they would be better equipped to answer your questions. If you still have concerns after that, please feel free to come and chat with me about things. |

| November 15, 2004: | The Assignment 2 solution has been posted on the assignments page linked below! If you use the solution, you should likely try doing a "make clean" before building it, and clean out existing auction files from the emulator directory, just to be safe. Images in this version still take up lots of space (and time to work with), but it should work fine on the devices, as long as there aren't too many. We are currently working on a version that will compress/decompress pictures automatically. If you notice any problems with the solution, let me know, and we will fix it as soon as possible. The TA who constructed it and I have both tested it and it seems to work quite well though! | |
| November 11, 2004: | Assignment 3 is now available on the assignments page linked below. As discussed in yesterday's class, there are two options for this assignment that you can choose from. One option involves security (which does not require access to actual devices), and the other involves Bluetooth networking (which does require access to devices). The Bluetooth assignment is more difficult, but you are allowed to be in large groups. Since many students did not want to have to be part of larger groups, the other assignment was created. (Actually it was going to be part of the original Assignment 4.) Read through both options before deciding what you want to do. Once you have decided, please send me an e-mail to register your decision. If you are doing the Bluetooth option, we will make arrangements early next week to get you access to the devices you will need. Remember that we only have a limited number of devices available; if you are interested in that assignment I may need to make larger groups to accommodate people. | |
