CS437/CS641 - Video Game Design and Implementation

Winter Session 2003

Announcements
(Last Update: May 6, 2004)

New! May 6, 2004: I have to say that we were generally quite impressed with the final projects in the course, and you should be proud of what you've put together. I would like to assemble a CD of the game projects and make the ISO available for people in the class to download. If you do not want your game included, or have a preference of source or binaries (or both) included, please let me know. Also, if you have a more up-to-date version you would like to include, let me know and it can be included as well. As a final note, do not forget that there will likely be another competition at next year's Computer Game Technology conference, and many of you should consider submitting your games. Contact me for more details if you are interested!
New! May 6, 2004: Final marks for the course have been submitted and should be available shortly. I apologize for the delay! The last group project submissions can be picked up directly from me starting this coming Monday. (I am out of town tomorrow.) I will be generally around for the foreseeable future, but if you want to guarantee that I'm in on a certain day at a certain time, be sure to e-mail me!
New! April 19, 2004: I've made arrangements for a demo testing time and review session for CS437/641. With the exam coming up Sunday, April 25th at 2:00pm in SSC 2024, this should be good for preparations. I have booked MC 320 from 1:00-4:00pm this Friday, April 23rd. We'll start off at 1:00pm with some exam review, and get into game demos from that point on. If you think you will need special equipment to do your demo, because of software or other constraints, please bring it with you or let me know, and I'll see what I can do. Also, if you still have your Nokia devices, you need to return them at this point. Please bring them with you to this session, and we can mark them as returned on your sheets. If you cannot make it to this session, please ensure that you make arrangements to return them to me before hand, or bring them with you to the exam on Sunday.
April 6, 2004: I just consulted with our undergraduate chair. Because the deadline for handing in your project, testing documentation, and meeting minutes is April 8th at midnight, I won't be checking the locker until Friday morning. Since Friday is a holiday, and then the weekend shows up, this means that I won't actually be checking the locker until Monday morning between 9:00 and 10:00am or so. So you have until Monday morning effectively to get that stuff in on time! I can hear the cheering now ...
April 6, 2004: Thursday's class is cancelled this week. I will be attending a games technology conference in Toronto then. The exam will cover material up until the end of today's class (copyright issues in ethics in game development). A review session before the exam will be booked shortly, and details will be posted here.
