May 1, 2006: | With the course wrapping up for the year, I just wanted to remind everyone one last time of the FuturePlay 2006 conference coming to London next year. Among other things, there is a games competition that I think many of you should consider submitting your games too. There is still time to refine and polish things, and I do believe that many of you could do quite well at it. Check the conference website for more information, or ask me directly if you have questions! |

April 11, 2006: | Just to let everyone know, the final exam will cover up to and including the material covered in today's class, ending at the emulation portion of the class notes in the section on ethical and social issues in video games. The material that was not covered (i.e. the remainder of that set of notes following emulation, and the last set of notes on the future of game development) will not be questioned on the exam. As with the midterm, you can also safely ignore the material on the history of gaming near the beginning of the course. The bulk of the exam will focus on material since the midterm, but expect to find a small number of questions on material from before the midterm as well. |

April 10, 2006: | Last year's final exam has been posted in Microsoft Word, PDF, and PostScript formats. Don't forget that we did not cover some of the more implementation-oriented material that was done last year, as that is being moved into the new game engine and programming course. (So if there are some questions that look foreign, that's why.) As a reminder, the final exam is Monday April 17, 2006 at 9:00am in SSC 3010. |

April 8, 2006: | Just to reiterate, last week marked the end of your scheduled group meetings with us. There are no more meetings, even though you now have more time to work on your projects. That said, if you have questions or issues you would like to bring up with us, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to discuss things with you! |

April 6, 2006: | As discussed in class today, we have been hearing a lot about the unusually heavy workloads from everyone at this time of year. So, I've got good news and bad news. The bad news is that technically, we are not allowed to provide an extension into the exam period. The good news is that we will be waiving and ignoring any late penalties on the final project implementation submission and meeting minutes until Tuesday April 25th, in essence giving you two more weeks to continue to work on things. Furthermore, because we know some people have been working feverishly to get things done by April 11th, we are putting a bonus of 10% on any projects received by Tuesday April 11th, and a 5% bonus on projects received by Tuesday April 18th. (All deadlines are as of midnight on that day.) Hopefully this will give you the freedom and flexiblity to help you manage this busy time and have your projects finish the way you would like them to! |
