Winter Session 2006

Announcements
(Last Update: April 11, 2007)

New! April 11, 2007: As a reminder, since we wrapped up lecturing in yesterday's class, class on Thursday, April 12th is cancelled to give everyone some extra time to work on their projects!
New! April 10, 2007: Last year's final exam has been posted in Microsoft Word, PDF, and PostScript formats. It will cover all of the material from the course, with a focus on material introduced since the midterm. (The history section is still off-limits, so don't worry there.) As a reminder, the final exam is Sunday April 22, 2007 at 2:00pm in HSB 9 (formerly the South Valley Building).
New! April 10, 2007: This week marks the end of your scheduled group meetings with us. There are no more meetings, even though you now have more time to work on your projects. That said, if you have questions or issues you would like to bring up with us, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to discuss things with you!
New! April 10, 2007: As discussed in class today, I have heard from some students that would like an extension to the final project submissions, and others who would rather submit it at the advertised time. To accommodate everyone, we will be waiving and ignoring any late penalties on the final project implementation submission and meeting minutes until Thursday April 26th, in essence giving you two more weeks to continue to work on things. To be fair to people that want things submitted at the original due date and have been working hard towards that, there will be a bonus of 10% on any projects received by Thursday April 12th, and a 5% bonus on projects received by Thursday April 19th. (All deadlines are as of midnight on that day.) Hopefully this will give you the freedom and flexiblity to help you manage this busy time and have your projects finish the way you would like them to!
New! March 22, 2007: Next sets of course notes have been posted.
New! March 21, 2007: As discussed in class yesterday, there will be two guest speakers from Big Blue Bubble to give a presentation in class on Thursday, as I am going to be off giving presentations myself elsewhere. It should be a very interesting and industrially relevant presentation! Please do your best to attend, as I will likely have a question on the final exam from their presentation! (Don't worry ... it should be pretty simple! :)
March 16, 2007: Next sets of course notes have been posted.
March 14, 2007: Details on what to hand-in for the group project final implementation have been posted. When gearing up for this, do not forget to get your meeting minutes into shape for the end of the year too!
March 12, 2007: Next set of course notes has been posted.
February 21, 2007: Midterm exams have now been marked, and can be picked up starting tomorrow during office hours. Solutions to the midterm are also available in Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
February 21, 2007: Details on what to hand-in for the group project game prototype have been posted.
February 20, 2007: Next set of course notes has been posted.
February 13, 2007: Next set of course notes has been posted.
February 6, 2007: As discussed in class today, it has been determined that the midterm exam will proceed on Sunday February 11th, 2007 at 2:00pm. This seems to meet the needs of the people I talked with in advance, and no one expressed opposition to this in class. The exam will be held in SSC 3028. Also as discussed in class, the exam will cover material up to and including the lecture notes on genre-specific gameplay design issues. (Lecturing on this material should wrap up in Thursday's class.)
February 5, 2007: Next set of course notes has been posted.
February 1, 2007: Last year's midter exam has been posted in Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
February 1, 2007: Speaking of the midterm exam, it was noted in class today that there's an issue on the course outline with respect to the midterm. The outline says the exam is on Saturday, February 11th ... unfortunately February 10th is the Saturday and the 11th is on Sunday. (My original intentions were for the exam to be on the Saturday that weekend ...) Checking with our Undergraduate Chair, the best thing to do is to put things to a vote to let the class decide between Saturday or Sunday for the exam. So, we will do this in next Tuesday's class. If you feel strongly about this, please either attend class, or send me e-mail about this as soon as possible. My apologies for the confusion!
