Since the beginning he was very accurate with my learning needs, so he sped up my English speaking skills very much. He has a high level of English knowledge and although he's a native speaker, his accent sounds very clear for me even though I am a Spanish speaker. Thank you very much Muneer. Terry Yamashita - January 7, 2016 LinkedIn Profile --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAGE 2: About Me I started my career in Environmental Sciences, though I've always had an interest in English and writing. While working at a consulting firm full-time, I interned as a writer and editor for an online magazine. I found that I was more interested in writing and editing than I was in environmental sciences. That's when I decided to get my TESOL diploma and go teach in China. My interest in English and writing slowly developed my enthusiasm for teaching. I find teaching to be extremely rewarding. You make a direct and obvious impact on a person's life by teaching them something. I enjoy that feeling of accomplishment, and that's why I continue to teach. I've taught Canadian immigrants, working professionals, primary school and university students. I've taught in a classroom of fifty students, online, and 1-on-1. I find the chance to make a difference is greater when teaching in smaller groups. So while I enjoyed teaching in a public school, I prefer teaching privately. Other than teaching English online, I'm also a professional editor. I blog irregularly at muneerhuda.com, and I'm trying to become full-time web content writer. Teaching principles - Teaching and learning should be fun activities. The lesson should be as enjoyable for the student as it is for the teacher. I consider my student's interests, motivations, and desire to learn English when making my lesson plans. I teach 1-on-1 or in small groups, so every lesson is different. I have an adaptable teaching style, and I change what and how I teach based on my student's progress and struggles. I use a variety of methods to teach, including slideshow lectures, reading materials, online exercises, online dictionaries, and giving homework as necessary. I teach using either Skype or Google Hangouts. Interested students can contact me for a trial lesson. What will I learn in my online English class? I cover conversational English, English grammar and a bit of writing. Conversational English Conversational English is English that is spoken by native speakers every day. It is less formal than English that is taught in schools or academies and training centers. Conversational English uses many idioms and phrases that non-native speakers are unfamiliar with. These phrases and idioms change depending on whether the native speaker is American, British, or Australian. I recommend conversational English to students who have a good grasp of basic English, including grammar, but want to speak like native speakers and understand them. I teach conversational English by picking daily conversation topics, providing reading material written by native speakers, and by looking at common phrases and idioms used by North Americans. English Grammar English grammar can be difficult for non-native speakers. There are many grammar rules in English, and each rule has exceptions. Grammar can also be very boring to learn. I recommend English grammar to students who have learned English in the past but have not used written or spoken English for a long time, or students who have never had formal training in English. I teach English grammar in a fun and intuitive way. I never ask my students to memorise rules. I teach grammar through a series of lectures that help students understand the rules, and then give exercises for practice. I also correct my student's spoken English when they make grammatical mistakes. Eventually, as it becomes a habit, my students start correcting their own mistakes. English Writing Writing is a form of communication. The purpose of writing is to be understood. Many native and non-native speakers form bad habits with writing. Native speakers tend to use big words and long sentences to communicate their ideas. Non-native speakers will often have grammatical errors or awkward sentence structures. Both these issues make it difficult for the reader to understand what is being communicated. Good writing is clear and concise, and should use no more words than necessary to communicate a point. I recommend English writing to native and non-native speakers who want to improve their written communication, whether it's for work, school, or personal reasons. I teach writing by editing my student's work, revising simple grammar rules, and going over writing best practices for clear and concise communication. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAGE 4: Teaching Experience Teaching: 3+ years of teaching experience English primary school teacher in China Extracurricular science teacher in Canada Online English teacher at Verbling and CnTalkCanada English: Writer and editor for online magazine Freelance editor Blogger (muneerhuda.com) Education: TESOL Diploma (2014) B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences (2010) Publications: See all publications at http://muneerhuda.com/publications/ March 25, 2015 "Challenges of teaching in China as an expat" Shenzhen Daily January 12, 2014 "Flu vaccine shortage hits Canadian provinces" Arbitrage Magazine December 2, 2013 "Talking travel, business and possibility with Martyn Sibley" Arbitrate Magazine Personal blog - http://muneerhuda.com/blog/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAGE 5: My Blogs SEE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR WHAT TO DO ON THIS PAGE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAGE 6: References INCLUDE A REFERENCE TO EVERY IMAGE YOU INCLUDED ON YOUR SITE, EVEN IF WE SUPPLIED YOU WITH THE IMAGE
