Kittens

The kittens are checking out the futon.

On August 9, 2006, I adopted two kittens, so I decided to set up a page with pictures about them and whatnot. All pictures are courtesy of Caitlin, by the way, their official photographer. She came over on August 15 to take this round of photos, when they were about nine and a half weeks old. All of these photos are bigger than they appear; they're being scaled down for the page. So just open them up in their own tab/window.

While I was working at TVWorks, a co-worker of mine and his wife took in a stray cat. The cat (surprise!) turned out to be pregnant, and so they had 8 kittens to get rid of. I'd been looking at adopting a cat for a while, and even though I wasn't really thinking of kittens, the idea of two free cats who would get along with each other (since they were from the same litter) seemed attractive, so I took two. I went over to their house on day after work with Caitlin and we played with the kittens (or rather the 6 that hadn't been adopted yet) for an hour or hour and a half. The one with an orange dot on her head (whom I thought was a boy at the time) seemed pretty playful, and the light grey one with very fine spots was a pretty quick runner, so I reserved the two of them.

And for the record, they are both girls :)

On the weekend of August 19, 2006, I went to Toronto, which meant Caitlin was in charge of the kitties. She snapped a bunch of pictures, mostly of them sleeping :P

Girling it up.

Holy symmetry! The kittens like to get friendly with Caitlin's pyjamas while they sleep.

The kittens sometimes sleep on top of one another :D

Button

Button
Button.

Button is the smallest of the two. She gets her name from the orange dot on her head, which I thought kind of looked like a button (or I suppose more like a button hole). She's the most aggressive and jealous of the two.

Then comes Pincho. She's a giant suck and is constantly whining for attention. She's also the fastest running cat I've ever seen. Usually when she's playing she'll spend most of her time stalking at a distance, but once she starts running it's a little...frightening how fast she is.
