POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE IN BIOCOMPUTING LAB

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Biocomputing Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science, the University of Western Ontario. This position is funded by the Canada Research Chair in Biocomputing awarded to Professor Lila Kari. The successful candidate will be involved in research into biological information modelling, encoding and processing, as well as DNA Computing. For the computationally intensive aspects of this project, resources include a high-end SUN server with 1.5 terabytes of disk space and several state of the art work stations, as well as access to the SHARCNET UWO, the fastest academic supercomputer in Canada.

The applicant should have a Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline. Experience in formal language theory, complexity theory, information or coding theory is preferred. Background knowledge in biology or biochemistry is an asset. The position is available as early as April 2011, and it is for 6 months up to one and a half years or two years. Salary is competitive and commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience.
