Accurate costing provides insightful information to any Internet Service Provider (ISP) for better network planning, deployment and decision-making. Developing accurate cost models for communications network services is a challenge for ISPs / cloud operators due to the complex nature of today’s advanced shared cloud and network infrastructure. The development and maintenance of such cost models require significant effort and time by the ISP network analysts. Professor Haque, with his graduate student Yasmeen Ali, in collaboration with Bassel Bitar, Senior Manager in Finance at Bell Canada, developed a novel costing methodology for complex, ultra-large and shared network infrastructure that reduces the cost model development cycle time significantly and leads to operational cost savings. This work was accepted at the peer-reviewed 7th IEEE International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC’20) in Montréal and received the Best Paper Award.

*Yasmeen Ali, Anwar Haque and Bassel Bitar, “Towards the Development of a Novel Service Cost Modeling: An ISP Perspective” received the best paper award at the 7th IEEE International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC’20) held in Montréal from October 20 to 22, 2020

Congratulation to Yasmeen Ali, Anwar Haque and Bassel Bitar!
